One more #TurtleTuesday post from the archives. This is the NECA Toys Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Attila the Frog!
This Attila figure is modeled after his appearance in the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. In the season two episode “Invasion of the Punk Frogs,” Shredder names the Punk Frogs after famous conquerors and dictators, just like Splinter named the turtles after Renaissance artists. Attila gets his name from Attila the Hun, leader of the Hunnic Empire. Shredder then trains the frogs to help him carry out his criminal plans while they’re still new to the city (and new to being mutants).
Attila wasn’t part of the original Playmates Toys line, but NECA did a great job making him look just like he does in the cartoon. He comes in a two-pack with Napoleon Bonafrog, who was in the vintage line, and includes lots of accessories. Along with an extra head and two more sets of hands, Attila comes with his flail, a money bag, and a small unmutated frog. The paint and sculpt match the character really well, and he looks a lot like the other three frogs in the series.
