Recommended music: The Warsaw Symphony Orchestra – The Uruk-Hai (Live)
On this #TolkienThursday, we’re still under attack by Orcs. Not just any orc, it’s the Diamond Select Lord of the Rings Uruk-Hai Orc!
This Uruk-Hai was released as part of series four in the DST Lord of the Rings toy line and was likely the first one I picked up. I don’t usually collect 7-inch-scale Diamond Select figures, as they are generally too big to fit in a 1/12-scale display. This guy, however, was an exception, as being a generic orc means he’ll look just fine mixed in with a ToyBiz orc army.
Besides the ugly, yet very accurate, Uruk Hai head seen here, there is also an alternate helmeted head and weapons option. While meant for Fellowship of the Ring, I display that option with orcs from The Two Towers. He also comes with a pair of open hands, but I wouldn’t recommend them unless you don’t want your Uruk-Hai to be able to hold a cool shield and scimitar at the same time.😄
In addition to multiple display options, this line offers 16 points of articulation in its orcs, far more than what the ToyBiz toy line provided 20 years earlier.
