Recommended music: Elmer Bernstein – Mistake
On this #WhateverWednesday from the archives, we’re still rolling with the Mattel “Matty Collector” Ghostbusters Slimer!
This translucent, angry little spud was the second release of the character in this particular toy line. Unlike the vintage Ghostbusters line and even modern incarnations of the character by NECA and Diamond Select, this Slimer came with a clear stand to recreate a flying look for the ghost.
Slimer was initially packed with the first Egon figure. You might recall that the original Egon figure was intended to be a slimed Venkman figure to launch this new line from Mattel. For this version featuring the tongue, Slimer was packaged with Peter Venkman and shipped 10 months after the first release.
