For this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re taking another look at the Figura Obscura Anubis!
Although this figure is not technically a Mythic Legion release, it is constructed using the Mythic Legions’ Barbarian body. Officially titled Figura Obscura: The Gods of Ancient Egypt, Anubis, this offering from Four Horsemen Studios was my top action figure selection for 2024.
The unexpected announcement last spring of this canine-headed deity, featuring alternate heads with varied expressions, multiple interchangeable feet and hands, and a comprehensive set of Egyptian accessories, strongly influenced my decision to acquire the figure.
The most notable accessory for your Egyptian display included in this release is most likely the “Anubis Shrine.” This accessory is modeled after an actual artifact featuring a black-painted jackal-headed statue, guarding the entrance to the tomb of Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamen, also known as King Tut. While the real-life shrine was discovered in 1922 within the tomb, I just realized I omitted the plastic shrine from this photograph and instead featured a NECA Mummy sarcophagus. 😄 This NECA accessory set is a great fit for these Figura Obscura Egyptian releases, with both great detail and being the same scale.
