We’re back in 1955 (again) on this #WhateverWednesday, and we’re still looking at the NECA Back to the Future Accessory Set!
Since I’ve already covered all of the action figure releases that NECA Toys put out for the Back to the Future live-action films, and discussed the 1985 accessories last week. Let’s see what’s included in the Back to the Future Accessory set for 1955.
First off, we’ve got the brainwave scanner Doc Brown head to go with your 1955 Doc Brown figure. The reused extra head with this invention attached is a real highlight of this accessory set, and a piece that was apparently too large to include with the original Doc release. While the shocked expression on Doc’s face is typically seen when he is wearing a different costume, it still works here. That’s right; technically, Doc should be wearing his silvery robe while adorning the brainwave scanner.
“My god, do you know what this means? It means that this damn thing doesn’t work at all.” – Doc

In the film, when Marty puts his yellow radiation suit back on to fool the adolescent George McFly into pursuing Lorraine, he delivers this classic line:
“Silence, Earthling. My name is Darth Vader. I am an extra-terrestrial from the planet Vulcan.”
Yes, I covered this ‘Tales From Space’ version of Marty eight weeks ago, but this additional accessory makes the figure even more complete, as this set includes an additional gloved hand doing a Vulcan salute. While Marty only makes the hand motion for a moment, it’s a pretty unique pose that NECA likely had to sculpt the fingers from scratch.
Additionally, there is a walkie-talkie and Marty’s letter to Doc, both seen in 1955 scenes, but I don’t have a picture thought out for those accessories just yet.
We’re just ONE WEEK away from the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future! I figure it’s worth jumping in the DeLorean to revisit some great toys from the film.
