Eagalus

Recommended music: Steve Miller Band – Fly Like An Eagle

Flying high on this 4th of July and #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re taking a look at the Mythic Legions Eagalus!

More than a year before the launch of their Mythic Legions line, Four Horsemen Studios had their first Kickstarter campaign for another toy line called The Gothitropolis Ravens. This was a line of all bird figures that reused the same body with different paint options. In late 2015, they offered another wave of these figures called Eathyron’s Dozen, which featured brand new head molds of a dozen types of birds, such as chicken and duck, and was rebranded under the Mythic Legions banner.

The standout from this group, besides Eathyron, is definitely this star-spangled warrior, Eagalus. This initial version subtly blends red, white, and blue features and includes his spiked spear weapon and a removable tattered cape with a very patriotic-looking bird silhouette amongst the stars and stripes. This newer version of the Avian Patriot was included in the All Stars 2.0 wave in 2018, featuring a new paint deco and replacing the weapon and cape with new red, white, and blue weapons, as well as full-sized red, white, and blue wings. While the repaint is fun for fans who missed out on the first release, I prefer the original.

Now it is fun to be able to feature Eagalus on America’s birthday; he is a year-round part of my Mythic Legions display, and always at the ready in case of an orc or skeleton attack. 😁

Happy 4th of July!
