So this #SomethingElseSunday from the archives, we’re talking about the Mattel “Matty Collector” line, Subway Ghost!
This character was originally supposed to have three heads, but the practical effect was both too expensive and time-consuming, so the final puppet model was simplified. The model was shot in October of 1983, ahead of principal photography for the first film.
In the movie, this particular ghost is freed from the Containment Unit when Walter Peck shuts down the protection grid and is later seen emerging from a New York City subway station.
The figure is cast in translucent blue and looks great with solid detailing, right down to the tendrils.
Last year marked the 4oth anniversary of the original Ghostbusters film first hitting theaters, and 35 years of Ghostbusters II. ️
