Zenithon

Recommended music: Evanescence – Thoughtless

Zipping into the weekend this #FourHorsemenFriday, let’s have a look at the Mythic Legions Zenithon!

Zenithon’s official Mythic Legions bio shows that he is an Oraphim messenger. Traditionally, in both Jewish and Christian mythology, oraphim refers to a class of celestial beings. Often depicted as beings of light or wheels with eyes, they are sometimes identified as angels. If Zenithon’s appearance even looks slightly familiar, you may have figured out he is a tribute to the “Winged Warrior” Stratos! He is the Four Horsemen’s “unofficial” nod to Stratos and part of their ongoing line of Masters of the Universe tribute figures.

The figure, along with Okeatos, was included in the Mythic Legions: All-Stars wave 5. These two, however, made their debut at the new look Power-Con convention in 2022.

Zenithon’s name appears to be based on “zenith,” a term meaning the highest point, a culmination of power or success, or the point directly above an observer in the celestial sphere. Ethon is derived from the word “ethos,” meaning character or moral nature. I’m not sure if that part was intentional or just sounded cool.

His main head is a repainted version of a bearded orc-style head. He also includes the helmet head from an armored dwarf Legion Builder, repainted to better match the character. For accessories, he comes with two staffs, shoulder pauldrons, helmet horns, wings, and four swappable hands. The large, bold red wings really enhance this guy’s appearance. While not my favorite MOTU character, he certainly is a great tribute.
