From the Archives: Great Moments Of Music Volume 8: Polkas

Recommended music:

Today, from the Bond on Vinyl archives, we’re still listening to music from Moonraker!

If you’ve seen Moonraker, you likely remember the scene around 40 minutes into the film. It happens just after Bond is attacked while riding a gondola in Venice. After a brief chase through the canals, the boat then turns into a hover gondola of sorts, driving through the street, and we get a cameo by “Man with bottle” (who appears in three Bond films), and the one and only double-taking pigeon in the Bond franchise.

Playing against the comedic segment is a piece of music known as the “Trisch-Trastch-Polka”, written in 1858 by Johann Strauss II. For the vinyl album, I once again went to Arthur Fiedler conducting the Boston Pops in this 1980 release from Time Life Records. 🍸
