Recommended music: Elmer Bernstein – Who Brought the Dog
Today, for this #SomethingElseSunday post from the archives, we’re looking at the Diamond Select Ghostbusters Terror Dog!
“So, does anybody want to play Parcheesi?… Okay. Who brought the dog?”
NECA Toys was technically the first company to produce a movie-accurate Terror Dog for their Ghostbusters line back in 2004. It featured nine points of articulation, light-up eyes, and two unique releases for Vinz Clortho and Zuul… I ultimately passed on the (short-lived) line. I waited for Terror Dogs to be included in the subsequent Mattel GB line so they would be in scale with the figures, but unfortunately, they were never made.
Thankfully, Diamond Select was able to put out this figure 13 years later in their 7-inch line, boasting a great sculpt by Gentle Giant, 18 points of articulation, and interchangeable horns to represent your choice of Vinz Clortho or Zuul! The scale may be off slightly for my Mattel figures, but honestly, the dogs themselves aren’t a consistent size in the film.
