Even this #StarWarsSaturday post from the archives, we’ve got another Jedi from The Saga Collection. Today, we’re taking a look at Even Piell!
When the character was first shown in promotions for Episode I, there was speculation that he was the same species as Yoda, or “Pink Yoda.” This was not found to be true, and his species was later identified as a Lannik. The male character was portrayed in the film by a female actor, with additional footage being shot and used in Attack of the Clones. He finally got a speaking role in The Clone Wars animated series and a new death scene than the character had experienced in novels.
This Piell figure originally came in a 3-pack with Mace Windu and Oppo Rancisis, their Jedi council chairs, and floor pieces. What he didn’t come with was a soft goods or adjustable skirt piece, so he can’t really sit in his own chair without removing the cloak (which also looks weird), so I just used this scene where he continues to have no dialogue but is close to the action of Qui-Gon’s funeral pyre.
The Phantom Menace turned 25 years old last year, and I “figure” there’ll be a new Episode I figure to share here for the rest of the year. Happy 25+ years of The Phantom Menace!
