Today, from the Bond on Vinyl archives, we’re moving on from Moore to Dalton, and listening to music from Licence To Kill!
What can I say about the Licence To Kill soundtrack that I did not already cover in Bond on Vinyl #19 or Bond on Vinyl #89?? Well, first off, it is still annoying to me that I had to add this spelling of “license” to my dictionary due to the alternate spelling…
Also, this 7” UK release of Gladys Knight singing the title song to the film appears to be a minute and two seconds shorter than the version that appears on the full soundtrack for some reason. On the B-side, you can hear “Pam” by composer Michael Kamen and The National Philharmonic Orchestra. This track sounds exactly the same as on the soundtrack release. This British orchestra used for the film score recorded music for dozens of films from 1966 to 1997 before disbanding, including The Exorcist, The Omen, Alien, Pink Floyd – The Wall, Total Recall, and many more.
This red sleeve is exclusive to the UK singles of LTK. Other countries had a gold sleeve for the cover art. They came in both seven-inch and twelve-inch versions.
