Recommended music: Cringer – Sunday
For this post from the archives, we’ve got the penultimate pick on my top 10 action figures from 2024. At #2, it’s the Mattel Masters Of The Universe Origins Cartoon Collection Cringer!
Yes, there was a “Cringer” figure in the Masters of the Universe Classics line back in 2011. However, he was under scaled and lacked articulation. There have also been custom Cringer heads to put on full-size Battle Cat figures as well. However, this is the first time that Mattel has put out a Cringer with articulation for fun cartoony poses. It is the perfect scale for a Prince Adam figure. They both look like they stepped right out of the 1983 Filmation He-Man animated series. I don’t normally collect this line, but when I saw the promotional pics this past spring, I knew I had to have this pair in the collection.
Honorable mention goes to the MOTU Origins Cartoon Collection He-Man, as Mattel really got the look and colors right this time around, and also to the MOTU Origins Collector Vehicle, which looks great, but I didn’t include it on this year’s list as I decided to keep it to figures only.
