From the Archives: The Treasure Keeper

Recommended music: Thornbridge – Keeper of the Royal Treasure

It’s time for the final #WhateverWednesday post from the archives. This week, we’re taking a look at another figure from the Disney Parks Pirates of the Caribbean line: The Treasure Keeper!

This pirate shows up in the Disneyland version of Pirates of the Caribbean and is notable for one thing: his hook hand. The Treasure Keeper and the crew of the Wicked Wench kidnap the town’s magistrate, Carlos, and dunk him in the well to make him reveal where the town’s treasures are hidden.

The action figure doesn’t really look like the animatronic, except for the hook hand, jacket, and a cutlass—which I forgot to include in the picture. Along with his weapons and cups (one has a parrot on top), his base and accessories are all things you see early in the ride with the skeletons in the caves: a sandy base with a treasure chest, a wooden dinghy, an extra bag of loot, and a stalactite club for some reason (I did remember to include that in the picture). 😄 I wonder if this slot was meant for another skeleton figure, but someone decided the line needed this character instead and didn’t want to pay for sculpting the neighboring well for dunking.

“Pipe the lubber aloft, matey. Speak up, ya bilge rat! Where be the treasure?” – Treasure Keeper

“Do not tell him, Carlos! No, no, no, no…” – Carlos’ wife

“No! No! Por favor!” – Carlos
