Revolution Snake Sorceress Teela

Recommended music: Return to Forever – Sorceress

Happy Monday, MOTU fans! For our last #MastersMonday post of the year, let’s take one more look at the Revolution figures from the Mattel Masters of the Universe Masterverse line. Today, we’re focusing on the final figure in this series: Snake Sorceress Teela!

In the second episode of the Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe: Revolution, “Ascension,” Teela begins an important quest and seeks guidance from the dragon Granamyr. Voiced by John De Lancie, Granamyr tells Teela she must master all the ancient magics to reform Preternia. Along with her power over Zoar, she also needs the snake magic of Ka and the dark magic of Havoc. Before she leaves, Teela takes on this snake form that calls back to the Green Goddess from the original mini comics. She keeps this outfit from the end of this episode until the end of the fourth episode, when she unites all three magic staffs and takes on a look that reminds me of Demona from Gargoyles.

Teela already had two figures in the Masters of the Universe: Revelation line, and her Sorceress look from Revolution appeared in Masterverse wave 11. But Mattel had one more Teela figure planned. This new design was first teased in a Mattel designer’s social media post in March 2024. It finally became available in August and shipped with the rest of Masterverse wave 14, about seven months after the Revolution series started on Netflix in January 2024. This last wave of Revolution figures seemed short-packed, making this figure one of the more expensive ones to find from third-party sellers.

The sculpt and paint on the figure closely resemble the animated character, though the artwork and video depict her in a mint green, while the figure is more of a seafoam color. The gold on the figure and staff looks better than most Mattel paint jobs and really helps her stand out on display. The figure has around two dozen points of articulation, which is helpful for posing, but several leg cuts could have been avoided for a better look. Also, a long, soft-goods snake tail really completes the look.

Teela includes an updated but familiar Staff of Ka, an extra set of open hands, and a snake-head energy effect. This effect is lightweight, so it’s easy to pose with. I’m glad we got these new accessories, since the other staves in this story were already included with different figures.

Overall, I’m pleased this figure was part of the line, as Teela played a significant role in the Revelation series while wearing this outfit. I wish we had seen a few more characters in the Masterverse line with their Revolution designs, but if this is the end, the figures finished strong!

Masters of the Universe Revelation/Revolution turned four years old this year! I correctly “figured” there was a new figure from this series to share here for the rest of the year!
