Milwick

Recommended music: John Williams – Welcome To Jurassic Park

I’m continuing my countdown of the top 10 action figure releases of 2025. At number 3, I picked the Ideas From Mars Defenders of Eden: Armies of Ashmore Milwick!

I initially backed the Cuzzo figure during the spring 2023 Kickstarter campaign, but Milwick Thunder Mage quickly became a must-have for my collection and made the two-year wait worth it. The Armies of Ashmore line, first shown at Legions Con 2022, stood out as something different, and these figures are bigger than any other anthropomorphic dinosaur action figures I’ve seen. Milwick’s purple color and magical powers make him stand out even more. When I first reviewed these figures in the summer, I thought Cuzzo would make my top ten, but in the end, Milwick’s brachiosaurus design and color scheme really won me over.

Milwick is a colossal figure—so big that he barely fit in the oversized box, even after taking off the extra neck piece and tilting his head down. Once assembled, he stands 11 inches tall and 4 inches wide, much larger than other 1/12-scale action figures. The box itself is large and features eye-catching comic-book-style art on the sides. The dino wizard comes with highly detailed paint apps and 17 points of articulation. He also includes two extra sets of hands, an adjustable helmet, and a staff with a large magic effect that’s taller than many 1/12-scale figures on its own [see posts from September].

I don’t think we’ll see new releases from this line anytime soon. The most recent Kickstarter update in August said the fourth comic book still isn’t finished. On the bright side, a November news story reported that BigBadToyStore will restock the sold-out first wave of figures and that two new waves are in development.
