Diego Luna’s performance as Cassian Andor has received plenty of attention since his Rogue One spin-off, but Jyn Erso is truly the key to the Rebellion’s survival. As Galen Erso’s daughter, she connected her father’s hidden sabotage to the Alliance’s desperate need for a victory.
While the Rebel leaders were frozen by fear, Jyn transformed from a cynical outsider to a selfless leader, pushing them to act. She led the Scarif mission to steal the Death Star plans, which Luke Skywalker later used to save the galaxy. Her “suicide mission” galvanized a fractured movement, turning a ragtag group into a unified, fighting force. Finally, she proved that even those discarded by the galaxy can change its fate, famously noting that “Rebellions are built on hope.” Without her, there would be no “New Hope.” She did more than find a weakness—she inspired others to act on it.
Funko revealed a lineup of 20 Pop! Vinyl Rogue One figures for fall 2016, just before the movie’s December release. Four of these featured Jyn Erso, including this “hood up” version as a Hot Topic Exclusive. She wears a gray scarf over her head to shield herself from Jedha City’s dust and heat, and to blend in with the locals before meeting up with Saw Gerrera.
