On this #TolkienThursday, we’re skating down the stairs at Helm’s Deep from The Two Towers and checking out the ToyBiz Lord of the Rings Helm’s Deep Legolas!
After the Fellowship broke at Amon Hen, Legolas teamed up with Aragorn and Gimli to chase the Uruks who had taken Merry and Pippin. Thanks to his sharp eyes and ears, Legolas could spot signs of the enemy from far away and kept looking for any trace of the Hobbits in the muddy trail left by the Uruks.
During the Siege of Helm’s Deep, Legolas was both a skilled fighter and a link between different peoples. As a master archer, he was most effective by taking out enemies from a distance. His sharp vision let the Rohirrim spot the Uruk-hai coming in the dark, giving everyone an early warning. The friendly competition between Legolas and Gimli over how many enemies they defeated shows how Elves and Dwarves can work together, and that the Free Peoples are strongest when united, especially at the Battle of the Hornburg.
ToyBiz released this Helm’s Deep Legolas figure with a ‘Shield Skateboard’ in the second wave of figures for The Two Towers, and it also came in the ‘Helm’s Deep Battle Set’ 5-pack. Besides his usual bow and arrows, he comes with a Uruk-Hai shield that has wheels on the bottom, so you can have him skate down the Deeping Wall, or anywhere else you like.
Overall, this figure looks a lot like the character and is a must-have for any Helm’s Deep display. Just watch out for the shield—it might roll away on you. 😄
