Short Gangster

It’s #TurtleTuesday, and I wish that you’ll stop by to check out the NECA Toys Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Short Gangster!

Dumbo is a lesser-known character from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ history. He first showed up in the opening scenes of the classic 1987 cartoon as the stocky, bald member of Bebop and Rocksteady’s street gang. Wearing a biker vest and carrying a metal chain, Dumbo took part in the early fights against the Turtles before Bebop and Rocksteady turned into mutants.

His name is not mentioned in-universe, but was revealed in the storyboards for the Turtle Tracks episode. The character later appeared in the Mutant Turtles manga, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Italian magazine, and in his mutated dog form for the IDW comics.

NECA released the only Dumbo action figure in a 2-pack with Dopey (Tall Thug) in 2023. The names on the packaging were changed to more generic terms, probably to avoid issues with The Walt Disney Company, which owns trademarks on those names. The figure comes with an extra set of hands, his gang weapons—a mallet and a metal chain from the cartoon—and a mutant dog head and hands or forearms. I’m happy NECA made a figure of this rare character, since it looks great with the rest of the gang!
