It’s #FunkoFriday, so let’s have fun! Today, instead of discussing articulation or paint, we’re focusing on the Funko Pop! Vinyl Star Wars – Return of the Jedi Encounter on Endor #294!
In Return of the Jedi, C-3PO’s skill at talking with Teebo and the Ewok tribe was key to the Rebellion’s win on Endor. If the shiny protocol droid hadn’t been fluent in over six million forms of communication, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and the rest of the strike team might have ended up as dinner for the Ewoks.
Threepio helped by talking to the Ewoks and getting his friends off the spit. He also told them about the Rebellion’s story, which inspired the Ewoks to fight alongside the Rebels. Teebo and the Ewok scouts then shared important tips to help the team avoid Imperial patrols near the bunker. This teamwork set the stage for the Battle of Endor. Without Threepio’s help, the shield would have stayed up, the Death Star would have been unstoppable, and the Rebellion’s last stand would have failed.
Funko released this two-pack of bobbleheads in 2019, featuring Threepio on his throne and Teebo on a log platform. If you’re short on space, the Teebo figure looks a lot like the one they released on its own in 2017. There’s also another C-3PO on his wooden throne that came out for the Return of the Jedi 40th anniversary in 2023.
I think that’s enough Star Wars content on Fridays for now. We’ll move on to a new franchise covered by Funko next week!
