Sir Enoch

Recommended music: Bad Religion – Angels We Have Heard On High

This #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re staying up late and looking to the heavens with this Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions Sir Enoch!

The Mythic Legions All Stars 6 wave introduced new accessories, a horse, additional knights, and numerous skeleton figures. It also provided significant updates to the existing Templar Knights. The most notable addition to the Order of Eathyron faction is a figure designated as the Commander of the Templar Emissaries.

Enoch’s backstory describes him as a long-serving member of the Templar Emissaries who eventually became their leader. As a veteran of numerous battles, Sir Enoch has maintained his faith and sense of purpose, mentoring younger Emissaries. His most significant honor was delivering the message of Sir Gideon’s ascension to the leadership of the Order, traveling throughout Eathyross to announce this new era for the faction.

What stood out to me in this figure is the extensive soft-goods upgrades. It’s great to get these sewn pieces directly from the factory, rather than having to buy custom ones later. The cloth overlay on the torso, the decorated cape, skirt, and tabards all look fantastic. The new sculpted details on the shield, armor, and especially the chainmail coif and neckpiece stand out.

Enoch also comes with a Templar-specific mace, sheath, shield, and sword, plus an extra dagger and scabbard, four sets of hands, and several helmet options. Overall, he’s an excellent figure and definitely worth the wait since the 2023 pre-order. I meant to wait longer before sharing, but after opening and posing him, I had to post about him tonight. 😄

From the Archives: Sir Gideon Heavensbrand

Recommended music: System Of A Down – Vicinity Of Obscenity

For this #FourHorsemenFriday post from the archives, we’ve got the leader of the Order of Eathyron: the Mythic Legions Sir Gideon Heavensbrand!

Gideon was originally released in the first Kickstarter wave in 2015. Although a new 2.0 version was recently introduced, I prefer the original for its adjustable visor and simple shield. The mustached face always reminds me of Man-At-Arms, but with a more elaborate color scheme.

Clavian

Recommended music: The Bangles – Hazy Shade of Winter

This #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re looking around and finding a hazy shade of winter with The Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions Clavian!

While the Mythic Legions All Stars 6 wave introduced new knights, a horse, accessories, and new skeletons, it also reissued older skeletons, such as Clavian. If you thought that this skeleton raider is just a skeleton legion builder with red bones, well, you’re mostly right.

According to the character’s backstory, Clavian differs from other resurrected skeleton soldiers because he and his crimson cohorts are reborn through lethal blood-infused magic. This sorcery grants them enhanced strength and the ability to remove their own bone limbs, wield them as weapons, and repeatedly regrow them like a starfish.

Clavian was part of the initial Kickstarter wave and has now returned a decade later. I initially chose not to purchase this figure, but acquiring Pelvicus and his red skull prompted me to seek an entirely red skeleton for my collection. Although I waited several years between pre-order and delivery this past summer, the figure proved to be worth the wait.

Overall, Clavian is a simple figure, but the scarlet skull and bones really stand out in the display. His shield is a dull red, which I prefer because bright red might have looked tacky or cheap. The rusty sword is another nice detail, making the accessory look more realistic and intimidating.

From the Archives: Gwendolynne Heavensbrand

Recommended music: Kate Pierson – Evil Love

On this #FourHorsemenFriday post from the archives, we’ve got a human paladin figure to take a look at, it’s the Mythic Legions Gwendolynne Heavensbrand!

The Mythic Legions Advent of Decay wave, launched as the second Legions Kickstarter in January 2017, introduced 43 new figures and became the most funded action figure campaign in Kickstarter history.

This wave introduced the first female characters to the line. Among them, Heavensbrand particularly stood out to me and integrated seamlessly with the ongoing Order of Eathyron storyline.

Commander Gwendolynne Heavensbrand leads the Order of Eathyron. She stands out in her purple-and-gold armor and a purple plume, making her look unique on the battlefield. She also carries a large two-handed Zweihänder sword, a weapon used mainly in the 16th century.

Krampus

Recommended music: Royal Blood – Lights Out

Happy Krampusnacht, or Krampus Night! On this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re taking a quick look at the Four Horsemen Studios Figura Obscura: Krampus!

Although the historical origins of the Krampus are uncertain, this horned anthropomorphic figure is traditionally believed to accompany Saint Nicholas on visits to children during the night of December 5th, preceding the Feast of St. Nicholas on December 6th. In Central and Eastern Alpine folklore, Saint Nicholas rewards well-behaved children with small gifts, whereas the Krampus punishes those who misbehave with birch rods.

In Alpine regions, local folklore holds that the Krampus haunts communities during winter festivals, while residents celebrate to dispel the season’s cold and darkness. The concept of producing action figures based on well-known fictional characters inspired Four Horsemen Studios to develop the Figura Obscura line. Incorporating select components from the Mythic Legions series alongside unique design elements, the Krampus became the inaugural figure in this line in 2021, followed up by a red repaint the next year.

The Krampus figure incorporates armor, chains, hands, hooves, and the main body from the Mythic Legions line. Additionally, it features a newly designed head, neck piece, tail, and several character-specific accessories, such as skulls, sleigh bells, a switch, and a woven basket.

Recommended music: Valgard – The Quest

For this #FourHorsemenFriday post from the archives, we are featuring another dwarf warrior: the Mythic Legions Sir Valgard!

According to his official biography from The Four Horsemen, Sir Valgard is a knight in the Order of Eathyron. Released as a Kickstarter exclusive in 2015 as part of the first Legions wave, his purple-and-gold color scheme—reminiscent of the Minnesota Vikings—was distinctive at the time. Although other figures have since adopted similar colors, Sir Valgard remains unique within the line.

Thorasis the First Risen

Recommended music: Metallica – Blackened

This #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re rising up to take a look at the Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions Thorasis the First Risen!

The Mythic Legions All Stars 6 wave, available for preorder in spring 2023, reissued several older figures and introduced new knights, a horse, additional belts, heads, wings, and multiple new skeletons. In addition to the skeleton legion builders and the display options provided by Skalli Bonesplitter, this wave featured a new skeleton soldier equipped with soft goods clothing and a cloth banner.

According to the backstory, Thorasis is the first of the Death forces to return from banishment. As Necronominus’s eldest child, he assumes command of his father’s undead army and facilitates the return of his sister Morgolyth from banishment. While I have not been particularly interested in the Morgolyth character or figure, I appreciate how this biography connects to earlier skeleton characters in the Mythic Legions line.

Waiting 25 months for this figure was totally worth it. I don’t even mind that there isn’t a second head, since there’s so much included. Thorasis comes with extra armor pieces, two belts, extra bone feet, four sets of hands, both short and long pikes for the banner, and a big two-handed zweihänder sword. I usually pass on oversized shields, but the Necronominus emblem looks great in person. The cloth banner and wired cape are awesome extras to get straight from The Four Horsemen, so you don’t need a third party to make the figure feel complete.

Overall, Thorasis is an impressive figure that effectively combines soft goods with sculpted plastic elements. I had no issues posing the figure or swapping parts immediately upon unboxing, and I am pleased to include it in my collection. This figure is a strong contender for my 2025 top-ten action figure list.

From the Archives: Thord Ironjaw

Recommended music: Adam Richard Tucker – Caradhas

On this #FourHorsemenFriday post from the archives, we’ve got a dwarf from the snowy Grayvein mountains. It’s the Mythic Legions Thord Ironjaw!

Thord is a character from the inaugural wave of Mythic Legions, and I supported his release through the initial Kickstarter campaign. I was particularly drawn to this figure because, in my view, he most closely resembles Gimli from The Lord of the Rings.

Although Thord’s biography indicates his allegiance to the House of the Noble Bear and notes that he originally included a shield bearing a bear sigil, I chose to display my Thord figure without the original shield and axe. Instead, I equipped him with weapons that display more bronze and signs of wear, as I believe these better suit the character and the challenges he may face within the mountain caves.

Skalli Bonesplitter

Recommended music: Tool – Schism

So this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re taking a look at the Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions Skalli Bonesplitter!

The Mythic Legions All Stars 6 wave, available for preorder in spring 2023, included several reissues, new knights, a horse, new belts, heads, wings, and multiple new skeleton options. In addition to the standard full-size skeleton legion builder, this wave introduced a previously unseen race of skeletons to the line.

Unlike the generic skeleton legion builders, I find Bonesplitter’s biography particularly compelling. In life, Skalli Bonesplitter was among the most ruthless marauders from the northern settlement of Vikenfell. After succumbing to the curse that afflicted these warriors, Skalli’s cruelty intensified in death. This undead dwarven fighter now leads a force of skeleton raiders from the cold regions of Vikenfell toward the center of Mythoss, intent on destroying all who oppose him.

The 25-month wait for this figure proved worthwhile. Skalli is packaged with the Deluxe Barbaran Legion Builder head, although I have not yet found a suitable body for it, as the new dwarf skull head is a better match for this body. The oversized shoulder pauldrons with skulls on them look sharp, but I feel like they would match up with another full-size baddie a lot better. The figure also includes an ornate battle axe, a dwarven shield, a dwarven sword, a hammer that appears to be a new accessory, and an extra set of hands. Overall, Skalli is a valuable addition to the line, functioning effectively as either a named character or an army builder for your undead dwarf legions. 😄

From the Archives: Freyja of Deadhall

Recommended music: Trevor Gureckis – Isaac’s Hallucination

For this #FourHorsemenFriday post from the archives, we’re going to take a look at a Valkyrie in a snowy land with the Mythic Legions Freyja of Deadhall!

While her bio states that Freyja can “repeatedly resurrect herself,” I’m more concerned with how she stays warm. Perhaps it is something learned by many who hail from the House of the Noble Bear. Still, the ability to do without a heavy winter jacket is certainly a reason this legendary warrior has been revered for ages. 😄

Skeleton Raider

Recommended music: Stevie Wonder ~ Skeletons

For this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re taking a look at the Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions Skeleton Raider!

When the Mythic Legions All Stars 6 wave went up for preorder in the spring of 2023, it offered a few reissues of older figures as determined by a fan vote, as well as some new knights, a horse, new belts, heads, and wings. The thing that probably got me the most excited, though, was some new skeletons, including this first full-on skeleton legion builder. Though this character is named with a bio according to the Mythic Legions lore, they’re just army builders to me.

Yes, some generic skeleton warriors had already been included in the line since the first wave. However, this is the first time you could build out your army of the dead with the fully exposed rib cages and bone feet. Technically, the Maxillus the Harvester figure could be stripped down for this look. However, I prefer this pack-out of heads and accessories. In fact, when this wave was delivered 25 months later this past summer, the Raider was the first figure I opened.

The Skeleton Raider comes with an alternate gladiator-style helmet that I have yet to use, favoring this new skeleton raider head, as my previous skull heads lacked the Viking-style helmet. He also comes with four sets of interchangeable hands, armor pieces, including forearm guards that often slip off the bony arms, a khopesh sword, a mace, a spear, and a wooden shield.

In the end, it’s a great army builder that will look good in battle against Mythic Legions and many other 1/12 scale action figure lines.

From the Archives: Barbarian

Recommended music: Celestial Aeon Project – Anvil of Crom (From ‘Conan the Barbarian’)

For this #FourHorsemenFriday post from the archives, we’re sharing a protective guardian from the collection. It’s the Mythic Legions Barbarian!

No, not the Legendary Barbarian who has been the event figure for 2025 and goes up for sale on the Four Horsemen website tomorrow, and not the deluxe Barbarian Legion Builder either. This generic legion builder figure was part of the original Mythic Legions Kickstarter wave, and I’m so pleased with this pledge.

In addition to this barbarian/dwarf head, he came with a helmeted head, five sets of helmet attachments (horns, feathers, antlers, etc.), two sets of armor, two swords, a dagger, a spear, and a shield. Granted, he didn’t come with this particular shield, but even without a bio, the character is supposed to belong to the House of the Noble Bear. So, I thought this bear shield (and stand-in bear sidekick) worked well with the figure, in any look you pick for him.

His ‘Viking’ design was based on a fan poll done on the Mythic Legions forums way back in the day. Besides the initial Kickstarter, the figure was brought back again for the first wave of All Stars, and again for the Advent of Decay wave by mistake in place of a new female Barbarian.

Graveyard Skeletons

Recommended music: Vince Guaraldi – Graveyard Theme

For this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re taking a look at the Four Horsemen Studios Graveyard Skeletons!

These figures are technically not Mythic Legions, and also not labeled as Figura Obscura. This 4-pack set was first offered as a timed-edition preorder in October 2024. With a shipping date of early this year, I guess that makes them eligible for my top ten action figures of 2025 list.

The Graveyard Skeletons use the same sculpt, first seen on the Mythic Legions Maxillus the Harvester figure and initially delivered to collectors with the Skeleton Legion Builder 2 figure. A decade into the line, this Legion Builder would be the first time we got a full-fledged skeleton without the armor and boots seen in previous skeletal releases.

While Maxillus utilized the standard, yellowed, bone color, and the Skeleton Legion Builder 2 came in more of a bleached bone look, this new figure is painted in a new “ashen gray” shade for its bones and nearly every other item in the set.

The set comes with four identical skeleton figures and a good amount of accessories to make them all unique. This includes two standard shields, spears, and swords painted gray, an extra pair of feet, six extra pairs of hands, and additional head options. On top of the four skeleton heads, you get a jack-o-lantern pumpkin head, two skull masks that fit onto the standard skulls, and a vampire skull.

When side-by-side with other Mythic Legions figures, it may seem like these skeletons are oversized as an actual interior skeleton of a 1/12 scale action figure, but the larger bones just replace the limbs and other body parts in my mind, just as the skulls have replaced full-sized heads in this line for the past decade.

Recommended music: Cat Stevens – King of Trees (Live)

For this #FourHorsemenFriday post from the archives, we’re sharing a protective guardian from the collection. It’s the Mythic Legions Xylernian Guard!

I’m not too concerned with this character’s backstory. However, this figure comes with a couple of different armored faceplates and skin tone options. My favorite is here in “whisperling green.” I’m not sure what that means, but it seems that however I light the photo, the face matches the green screen. 😄

Anyways, he also comes with a few pieces of soft goods and a load of accessories, including this chunky 3D shield with a faction symbol on it. I usually don’t go for that type of exaggerated style, but the protruding antlers really seem to work for this guy.
