Forest Troll

Recommended music: The Cure – A Forest

For this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re heading out to the forest with the Mythic Legions Forest Troll!

While trolls may be distantly related to goblins, ogres, and orcs, they definitely appear to be more deadly due to their massive size. This 12″ monster comes with an alternate head (a repaint of the ice troll head), as well as a fuzzy loincloth. He scales well with other 1/12 scale figures, thanks to Pippin for sticking around an extra day for this shot.😉

He officially comes with one accessory in the form of a ‘large club’ with a spiked ball on top. However, let’s call it what it is. That troll stuck a spiked boulder on top of a tree trunk!😄

While I am not letting my forest troll roam free, I will have other Mythic Legions for sale this weekend as I’ll be an exhibitor at the Retromania Collectibles Show May 17th & 18th in Aurora. So stop by table 79 (or one of the other hundred tables) for some fun stuff!

Skeleton Chimera

Recommended music: Metal Mother – Chimera Blues

For this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’ve got one last figure (for now) from the recent Mythic Legions Necronominus wave, it’s a Skeleton Chimera!

In Greek mythology, the chimera was a mythical creature that could breathe fire that was part lion, part goat, and part serpent. This particular chimera features two different skull heads, articulated limbs, and an additional snake head at the end of its tail.

The Skeleton Chimera was a pack-in with the beast master Beluath and looks just freaky enough to show up in Statue World and scare the bejesus out of the Heeler family. 😄

If you think that is an interesting toy mashup and live in Colorado, I’ll be an exhibitor at the Retromania Collectibles Show NEXT WEEKEND, May 17th & 18th in Aurora. So stop by table 79 (or one of the other hundred tables) for some fun stuff!

From the Archives: Hagnon

Recommended music: Ghost – Spillways

Also on this #FourHorsemenFriday from the archives, we’ve got the Mythic Legions Hagnon!

This hauntingly awesome skeleton also comes with a zombie head and a knight head. I initially slept on picking up this figure when it was first released, but eventually picked one up in a mystery box purchase.

A cool thing with the character’s species being a “ghost” is that he is cast in translucent glow-in-the-dark plastic! Fun stuff!

From the Archives: Wal-torr the Mad

Recommended music: Dolly Parton – Walter Henry Hagan

Let’s go to the archives this #FourHorsemenFriday. Today, we’ve got the Mythic Legions Wal-torr the Mad!

This skeleton is named after Walter, an admin from the Mythic Legions Cabal Facebook group. I will definitely be revisiting this figure later on as he was absolutely an early contender for the top figure of the year (yes, I know the con version actually came out the year before)…

Necronominus

Recommended music: Rush – The Necromancer

Now, on this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re noticing the namesake of the Necronominus wave: behold, the Mythic Legions Necronominus!

Necronominus is the final piece of The Dark Four, and in Mythic Legions canon, the most powerful of the evil gods. Mythos of this toy line aside, the characters and designs have become increasingly detailed, complicated, and complex over the 10 years of the brand. The figure comes with multiple hand options and layers of removable, patterned soft goods to get exactly your desired look.

If you thought Maxillius or a bone horse had a lot going on, this skeleton god really catches your eye with his massive bone wings. Also, just because Maxillius brought a scythe to this wave, it has nothing on the mighty Godrazor. Necronominus’ weapon of choice takes an oversized scythe and bumps it up a notch. It adds a small Necronominus ornament at the top that, you guessed it, also wields a small scythe. In-scythe-tion… or something like that.😛

Recommended music: Audioslave – Shadow on the Sun

Also on this #FourHorsemenFriday from the archives, we’ve got a Mythic Legions Shadow Orc Grunt Legion Builder!

Well, actually, there are two shadow orcs pictured here next to the horse, but one is well hidden behind a regular green orc. I initially passed on this guy, but later picked him up for a little variety with my orc troops.

Recommended music: Dale Chase – Goblin Town

Let’s go to the archives this #FourHorsemenFriday. Today, we’ve got the Mythic Legions Deluxe Dwarf Legion Builder!

Sporting some new weapons and a horned helm, I appreciate the look of this gobbo’s fat froggy face. It reminds me more of goblins from the animated Rankin/Bass Hobbit film from 1977.

Maxillius the Harvester

Recommended music: Blue Oyster Cult – (Don’t Fear) The Reaper

Finally, on this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re looking at the herald of the Necronominus wave: the Mythic Legions Maxillius the Harvester!

Maxillius may appear to be just a fancy grim reaper who provides a fresh supply of bodies to his master Necronominus, who can then expand his armies by raising the dead… because that’s what he is.😄

This is the fully decked out character shown in the picture, complete with meat-on-bone wings, a bone necklace thing, and an hourglass. If you remove all that, he still has his scythe to portray a more common grim reaper look. If you remove the cloak, you get a well-articulated skeleton with optional pointing hands and a freaky alternate skull with no eye sockets.

Also on this #FourHorsemenFriday from the archives, we’ve got the Mythic Legions Deluxe Dwarf Legion Builder!

This dwarf is ready for business, taking on a whole horde of goblins all by himself at the moment.

From the Archives: Poxxus Weapons Pack

Recommended music: Fatboy Slim ft. Bootsy Collins – Weapon Of Choice

For this #FourHorsemenFriday from the archives, we’ve got the one last look (for now) at the Poxxus wave with the Mythic Legions Poxxus Weapons Pack!

Samir Scrollwarder had to recruit an Unamed One from another toy dimension to help carry all these accessories! On top of additional potions, scrolls, tomes, a bird skull, bones, and a belt to hold them all, the set also comes with several weapons cast in different colors that really add more depth to the line.

This practice has been standard with action figures for decades and has been on my radar since Masters of the Universe released their “Weapons Pak” of alternate colored accessories around 40 years ago.😁👍

Conabus

Recommended music: Tchaikovsky – Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-Flat Minor

On this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re back to the Necronominus wave, and we’re gonna take a look at the Mythic Legions Conabus!

Conabus is the horrific skeletal steed of Necronominus, who also somehow helps raise the dead. Unlike Bishop, this terrifying bone horse definitely fits in with the rest of the Necronominus wave. Also, following Bishop, this was a must open for my daughter with horses before people.

Conabus does not come with any additional heads or accessories not seen here, but he really doesn’t need them as with just one look at this skeleton horse, and you can figure out what it’s all about.

From the Archives: Thraice Wraithhailer

Recommended music: ELO – Strange Magic

Also on this #FourHorsemenFriday from the archives, we’ve got the Mythic Legions Thraice Wraithhailer!

Thraice is one more magic-wielder that I was pumped to have in hand. She comes with a soft-goods shiny cloak, extra hands, an alternate head (slightly different hair), and a couple of good-looking translucent magic effects.

#MythicLegions

From the Archives: Samir Scrollwarder

Recommended music: Janapriyan Levine – Charmer

Also, on this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’ve got the Mythic Legions Samir Scrollwarder !

This is one release I was really looking forward to having in hand the past few years as I felt the line was lacking wizards and other magic users. The Four Horsemen really nailed it with this powerful guy who comes loaded with soft goods and accessories!

#MythicLegions

Bishop

Recommended music: Bishop Briggs – White Flag

Believe it or not, on this #FourHorsemenFriday, we’re gonna take a look at the Mythic Legions Bishop!

Given a brief bio about how Bishop was born lame in the Heavensbrand family stables and was set to be put down until a young Gideon prayed otherwise and the horse was miraculously healed, I don’t think there is a Mythic Legions character that has received that much heart in their backstory. This beautiful steed doesn’t feel like he belongs with the rest of the Necronominus wave, giving off an aura of elegance rather than creepiness. When our preorder arrived after a 26-month waiting period, this was the figure my equestrian-minded daughter had to open first.

While this line has already released a handful of horses, Bishop is the first one to arrive with multiple armor options, including the well-received tasseled soft goods. He also comes with a full-sized lance (for Gideon or whomever wants to take up jousting), an additional mane, and a “dead” head. Ah, there’s the creepiness.
