From the Archives: Peter Venkman

Recommended music: Elmer Bernstein – Ghostbusters Theme

For this #SomethingElseSunday, we’ve warmed up past #GhostbustersFrozenEmpire, and are taking another look at the Mattel “Matty Collector” Ghostbusters Peter Venkman.

This Venkman figure was supposed to be the first figure in the line but was replaced with an Egon Spengler figure as Mattel had not yet secured the likeness rights of future Groundhog Day star, Bill Murray. Thankfully, Mattel got it figured out, and this figure hit the Matty Collector site the following year.

On this #SomethingElseSunday, it’s starting to warm up outside, so it’s not quite a  #GhostbustersFrozenEmpire for the local weather.

This Ray Stantz figure from Mattel’s “Matty Collector” Ghostbusters line was first released in 2009 and is still my Ghostbusters action figure line of choice 15 years later.

From the Archives: Motherboard

At #5 on my top action figures of 2023 list is my only double dip into the same film/show. It’s the Masters Of The Universe Masterverse Motherboard figure.

This character played a larger role in the (then-upcoming) Masters of the Universe Revolution series, but also showed up in MOTU Revelation. The figure stands 12″ tall with a massive 24″ wingspan that will dwarf most figures in your MOTU display.

From the Archives: Man-at-Arms 2.0

At #8 on my 2023 top action figure list was the Masters Of The Universe Masterverse Man-at-Arms 2.0 Duncan (Revelation) figure from Mattel.

I think this was the most decked-out Man-At-Arms figure ever at the time of release, with two completely different looks.

As soon as I saw this banished Duncan in the MOTU Revelation series, I knew I wanted it in plastic form.đź‘Ť
