Rocket Mini-Puft

It’s #SomethingElseSunday, and we’re “ready to believe you” as we look at the Hasbro Ghostbusters: Mini-Puft Surprise line with this Rocket Mini-Puft!

The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is a major marketing icon for the Ghostbusters franchise. Though he started out as a villain in the original 1984 film (like Slimer), he quickly became a beloved mascot. His look evokes friendly corporate mascots like the Michelin Man or the Pillsbury Doughboy, making him easy to recognize.

After Sony Pictures bought Columbia Pictures in 1989 and took over the Ghostbusters franchise, they made Stay Puft a central part of their merchandise. His face appears on action figures, clothes, plush toys, and even marshmallows. Stay Puft has also played a big role in recent Ghostbusters movies. For sequels like Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Frozen Empire, the marketing team introduced the “Mini-Pufts.” These small, mischievous versions of Stay Puft became a hit on social media and in trailers. and were designed to support marketing and cross-promotions by appealing to younger fans.

In fall 2021, Hasbro launched the Ghostbusters Mini-Puft Surprise toys, inspired by the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie. Each 1.5” mini-puft figure came hidden in a can with a white, marshmallow-like substance instead of the usual slime. Based on the original Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, these mini-figures have playful new personalities, as seen in the film. Of the 18 figures in the line across three waves, we found the Rocket Mini-Puft to be a fun collectible of the film for around $5.

That’s it for Ghostbusters posts for this summer, but I’ll have plenty more spooks, spectres, and ghosts to share next year. 😉
