This #WhateverWednesday, we’ve reached the halfway mark of 2026—just six months left until 2027! To mark the occasion, I want to share my idea for a James Bond movie marathon to wrap up the year.
For over ten years, I watched Star Wars on New Year’s Eve and timed the Death Star explosion to happen right at midnight. A few years ago, I decided to switch things up and started a James Bond movie marathon instead. Watching every Bond movie in December isn’t really doable, even at home, but choosing just the ones with anniversaries in years ending in 6 or 1 is a fun way to end the year with some Bond action. Most Bond movies, except for the Daniel Craig ones, don’t need to be watched in order, so you can mix up the lineup. Just make sure the last movie finishes right at midnight for a big ending.
This year, only four official EON Productions James Bond films have big anniversaries, so I found some other long-form 007 videos you can add to your marathon. I included just one video game with an anniversary this year, but if you want to watch that kind of video, the full playthrough of the newly released 007: First Light will take longer to watch than the rest of them combined. 😄
We’re hopefully just three months away from the 2026 edition of James Bond on Vinyl, where I’ll spend every day in October talking about a different album of Bond music on the vinyl format. Let’s just hope my vinyl collection is out of storage by then. 🤞
