Recommended music: Howard Shore – The Departure of Boromir
It’s #TolkienThursday, and since my action figures are still packed up and waiting for a new display, the archive posts will come into play. That’s right, after 1099 posts on the blog, we’re going to have to do some summer reruns for the time being.
My original post had a fun ballad about Boromir with vocals, but today I’m sharing Howard Shore’s original score from the scenes of Boromir’s last stand. In these moments, Boromir is mortally wounded by Lurtz while protecting Merry and Pippin. Aragorn arrives too late to save him but defeats Lurtz, and Boromir gives an emotional confession about giving in to the Ring’s temptation. The scene ends with a heartfelt goodbye as Boromir pledges his loyalty to Aragorn, followed by his Elven funeral on the River Anduin.
