Super Poseable Helm’s Deep Aragorn

It’s #TolkienThursday, so let’s check out another ToyBiz Lord of the Rings figure from The Two Towers. Today, I’m showing off another version of Helm’s Deep Aragorn!

At the Battle of Helm’s Deep, Aragorn transitions from a “mere ranger” into a rightful king. Serving as a primary commander alongside Théoden, he provides the tactical grit and morale needed to hold the Hornburg against Saruman’s 10,000 Uruk-hai. He not only inspires the fearful Rohirrim but also leads and coordinates the wall defense during battle.

During the Siege of the Hornburg, the “sneak attack” via the postern door is a pivotal moment of tactical desperation. As the Uruk-hai batter the main gates with a massive ram, the defense is on the verge of collapsing. Aragorn and Gimli’s sudden ambush on the narrow causeway clears the gate area, allowing the Rohirrim to reinforce and repair the barrier. Without this, the fortress would have been breached hours before reinforcements arrived.

By fighting on a narrow ledge, Aragorn and Gimli take away the enemy’s advantage in numbers. Two skilled fighters can hold off many when only a few can attack at once. This moment strengthens the friendship between Man and Dwarf. Whether you remember the “toss me” joke from the film scene or the impressive fighting described in Tolkien’s The Two Towers book, this scene lifts the spirits of the tired defenders. It shows that in Middle-earth, a smart move can be more powerful than sheer force.

This super-poseable Helm’s Deep Aragorn figure features a new sculpt with a whopping 32 points of articulation. It came out in the third wave of The Two Towers figures and is definitely an improvement over the earlier version. I’m not sure if it looks more like Viggo Mortensen than the last one, but it’s much easier to pose in a Helm’s Deep display.
