Rogue One: Mission Briefing Part 17

Recommended music: Robert Ziegler and Slovak National Symphony Orchestra – The Throne Room & End Title [I’ve already used the original John Williams LSO version]

This #WhateverWednesday, we’re looking ahead to the 10th anniversary of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in December. Check out these trading cards from Topps Star Wars: Rogue One: Mission Briefing!

Since my action figures are still packed away, waiting for a new display, the cards keep coming out to play.

Topps released the Rogue One: Mission Briefing trading card set in September 2016 to build excitement for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The main set has 100 cards covering stories from Episodes I to VI and the animated series from that era, including the creation and destruction of the Death Star.

The Death Star was also a nine-card insert set that came in 1:6 packs, about four per hobby box. The subjects on these cards are a bit nerdy, each showing a different location around the space station. 😄

Today, I’m showing the next four cards, which wrap up the story from 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

Han Solo flies in with the Millennium Falcon and takes out Darth Vader’s TIE fighter wingman, clearing the way for Luke. Vader spins off into space, giving Luke the chance to make his move. With the Force guiding him, Luke turns off his targeting computer and fires two proton torpedoes into the Death Star’s exhaust port. The torpedoes curve into the reactor core, causing a huge chain reaction. The Death Star explodes in a blinding flash of fire, sending a glowing shockwave across space and destroying the Empire’s superweapon.

Inside the Great Temple on Yavin 4, Rebel troops welcome the triumphant heroes. It’s Miller Time, so cue that excellent throne room music! Princess Leia gives Luke and Han Medals of Bravery while Chewbacca, C-3PO, and R2-D2 look on, marking a monumental victory against the Empire. It was later retconned that Chewbacca got his medal in private since it was tough to put one on a 7-foot Wookiee. 😛

Yes, Spider-Man is now playing in theaters, but you also have great summer movie options at home, including the latest Star Wars film. The Mandalorian & Grogu movie is no longer in local theaters but is available to stream with Premium Video On Demand. Masters of the Universe has finished its theatrical run and remains among the top movies streaming on Amazon Prime!
