“Tell me, where is Gandalf? For I much desire to speak with him” … Gandalf is right here on this #TolkienThursday. I’m excited to share another collage and more greatest hits with another Spotify playlist featuring music from the blog called Now That’s What I Call Toy Music!
“Now That’s What I Call Music!” became a massive global phenomenon, serving as a soundtrack for pop culture over several decades. Its iconic name has a quirky origin: it was inspired by a 1920s Danish bacon ad featuring a singing pig.
The series has sold over 300 million albums worldwide. The first album, “Now 1,” went straight to number one on the UK charts and launched hundreds of follow-up albums tracking how popular music has changed over time.
You might wonder how this connects to my daily toy posts. Each day, I pick a theme for the toy I share and match it with fitting music. While I’ve repeated a song or two over the years, almost all of my 1000+ posts feature a unique song on Instagram. You can also listen to these songs on YouTube if you read the posts by email or on dalestoys.com.
Since I’m taking a break from new photos, I made a Spotify playlist featuring music from the second year of #TolkienThursday posts. Not every Lord of the Rings song I used is on Spotify, but most are, so you should notice a clear theme. Today’s playlist includes many tracks from Howard Shore’s original scores from The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers, plus other LOTR toy-related songs from pop, rock, classical, and more. There are 45 tracks in total, lasting two hours and 45 minutes.
Enjoy!
