Recommended music: Ministry – Filth Pig
It’s #TolkienThursday, and since my action figures are still packed up and waiting for a new display, the archive posts will come into play. That’s right, after 1100+ posts on the blog, we’re going to have to do some summer reruns for the time being.
The music I picked for my original blog post sounded more like something from a film trailer than Howard Shore’s well-known score for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. This time, for Lurtz, I wanted a different vibe, so I chose a 1996 track by the industrial metal band Ministry.
The heavy, grinding industrial riffs and mechanical drum machines fit the “industrial forge” story of the Uruk-hai. The harsh, steady guitar sounds also match simple black accessories and rough sculpted details of the Toy Biz action figure line. Though this song never received an official music video, I could picture listening to it while Lurtz is leading the orc army in search of the halfling.
