Burger King Uruk-Hai (Reblog)

Recommended music: Ministry – N.W.O.

It’s #TolkienThursday, and since my action figures are still packed up, awaiting a new display, posts from the archive will continue to come into play.

I realize the song I first chose for this blog post was a bit wild, especially since its lyrics tell a wild story set in a Burger King. Maybe there’s a better match.

Ministry’s industrial metal track N.W.O. is a great match for the Toy Biz Burger King mail-in Uruk-Hai figure because they share similar themes and looks. The song’s heavy guitar riffs, mechanical percussion, and metallic sounds reflect the dark machinery of Isengard, where Saruman made armor and weapons for his army. The steady, forceful beat brings to mind armored warriors marching across the plains, as heard in Howard Shore’s original score for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Also, the song’s main theme of changing regimes fits well with Saruman’s goal of wiping out the old kingdoms of Men and taking over Middle-earth. The paint and bold design of this early-2000s mail-order figure match the raw, mechanical feel of nineties industrial music, even if I am missing the helmet.
