Anubis (Reblog)

Recommended music: Jerry Goldsmith – Imhotep

It’s #FourHorsemenFriday, and since my action figures are still packed up, awaiting a new display, toys from the past will keep returning in a new way.

My first music pick for this Anubis figure was light-hearted, bringing Steve Martin and Ray Stevens to the blog, but perhaps I found something more fitting for this Egyptian deity.

Jerry Goldsmith’s “Imhotep” from The Mummy soundtrack is a perfect match for the Figura Obscura Anubis figure. The music captures the mythological and visual weight of the Lord of the Underworld. It blends fear with majesty, giving the jackal-headed deity a powerful, ancient presence.

The track uses brass and haunting choir sounds instead of fast action music. This builds a heavy, underground mood that brings to mind ancient tombs and rituals. It also captures the serious mood of mummification and judgment, turning a simple toy display into something that feels like an archaeological discovery.
