Recommended music: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -Pizza Power
It’s another #TurtleTuesday, and since my action figures are still packed and waiting for a new display, I’ll dig up some more old toys from the archives today.
When I first wrote on the blog about the Leonardo from NECA Toys based on his likeness from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coming Out of Their Shells Tour, I paired it with an easy-going instrumental by the Hungarian jazz-fusion band Djabe. That track was fun, but I think I’ve found one that fits even better.
“Pizza Power” is the perfect anthem for the Musical Mutagen Tour Leonardo figure because it captures the nostalgic mix that makes this figure so fun. As the band’s steady leader, Leo’s stage presence blends classic heroics with the over-the-top style of the 1990s.
This track is at the heart of the Coming Out of Their Shells era and the classic Turtles in Time arcade days. It brings the same upbeat energy and showy style that the NECA figure shows off. “Pizza Power” is more than just a catchy song; it’s the sound of the turtles swapping their katanas for synthesizers, making it the perfect soundtrack for Leo’s unique rock-star version on your TMNT display.
