Berserker Uruk-Hai

Recommended music: Imagine Dragons – Radioactive

It’s #TolkienThursday! Today, we’re heading back to Helm’s Deep from The Two Towers to check out the ToyBiz Lord of the Rings Berserker Uruk-Hai!

The Berserker Uruk-hai are Saruman’s most powerful soldiers. They show how nature can be changed for war. Saruman took away their instinct to protect themselves, making them into living weapons. Picked for their size and fierceness, these warriors carried the White Hand and wore no armor so they could move quickly and frighten their enemies.

These Berserkers were the first to climb the ladders, breaking enemy morale with their wild and fearless attacks. Most importantly, one Berserker carried the torch that set off the blasting fire at the Deeping Wall. This broke through Helm’s Deep’s defenses and proved that one determined fighter could bring down even the strongest walls.

ToyBiz first released the Berserker Uruk-hai figure with Sword-Swinging Attack Action in wave five of the single half-moon cards from The Two Towers. Later, it was repacked for the second wave of TTT carded figures. Not done yet, ToyBiz also included him in a two-pack with an Elven Archer and in a UK exclusive with Frodo, even though the two unrelated characters are never in the same location. An additional Berserker Uruk figure with a bomb was planned for the fourth wave of Epic Trilogy figures, but the ToyBiz line was canceled before it came out.

The figure’s articulation lets him hold his sword with both hands when you press the button on his back for the action feature. Besides his sword, he comes with a simple, removable helmet, but the chinstrap is fragile, so take care if you want to display him without it. Unfortunately, he does not come with a torch, but the paint job is well done. The white hand marks look similar across figures, but the amount of blood painted on the body varies from one release to another.

Overall, this figure looks great and is a must-have if you want to build an army for a Helm’s Deep display.
