That’s right, there won’t be any Funko or other action figures today. Since more than 99% of my action figure collection remains in storage while I wait for a new display space [see Sunday’s news], I’ll keep talking about trading cards. When the toys are away, the cards will play. 😄👍
Topps released the Rogue One: Mission Briefing trading card set in September 2016 to build excitement for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The main set includes 100 cards featuring stories from Episodes I to VI and the animated series of that era, highlighting major moments such as the creation and destruction of the Death Star.
Today, I want to cover the next four cards, telling more of the original story from 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
After arriving on Yavin IV, the Alliance quickly brings R2-D2 to a briefing room so their tech teams can pull the stolen Death Star plans from his memory. Rebel commanders gather their pilots, including the newly recruited Luke Skywalker and a “fake” version of Wedge Antilles, to plan a risky attack. The stolen plans show a hidden weakness in the station’s core: an unshielded exhaust port just two meters wide.
Since the port leads straight to the main reactor, a direct hit with proton torpedoes will trigger a chain reaction capable of destroying the entire station. However, the approach requires a dangerous, high-speed run down a heavily defended trench. As the Death Star moves closer to the moon, the Rebels have just one chance to exploit this weakness before their secret base is destroyed.
Yes, The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, along with Masters of the Universe, are still showing in some theaters. If you haven’t seen them yet, try to catch them on the big screen before they leave, as this could be their weekend.
