Topps released the Rogue One: Mission Briefing trading card set in September 2016 to build excitement for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The main set has 100 cards featuring stories from Episodes I to VI and the animated series from that era. It highlights major moments like the creation and destruction of the Death Star.
Today, I’ll talk about the next four cards, which tell more of the original story from 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
As the battle heats up, a TIE fighter chases after Luke and starts damaging his shields. Out of nowhere, Wedge Antilles swoops in like an absolute legend, blows the Imperial chaser to scrap, and saves Luke from becoming space dust. Flying through the fireball debris, Luke takes a rough hit to his ship. Poor R2 frantically tries to handle damage control while Luke insists he just “got a little cooked, but I’m okay.”
While the surface defenses scramble, Gold Squadron makes the first attempt at the trench run. The Y-wings push through heavy turbolaser fire, hoping to launch their proton torpedoes into the thermal exhaust port. Because Y-wings are heavy, slow-moving bombers, they’re sitting ducks to the right defenses.
That’s when Vader decides to step in and handle business himself. He drops into the trench in his sleek TIE Advanced, immediately turning the narrow corridor into a total bloodbath and wiping out the heavy bombers before they can take their shot; only a single Y-wing survives the entire battle.
The Mandalorian & Grogu movie is still playing in at least one local theater until tomorrow. If you haven’t seen it yet, try to catch it on the big screen before it leaves. This could be your last chance since it’s been out for about nine weeks. Masters of the Universe is no longer in local theaters, but it’s still the number one movie on Amazon Prime Video!
