Recommended music: Rammstein – Links 2 3 4
It’s #TolkienThursday, and since my action figures are still packed up and waiting for a new display, the archive posts will come into play. That’s right, after 1100+ posts on the blog, we’re going to have to do some summer reruns for the time being.
The music I chose for my original blog post was perfect, taken from Howard Shore’s famous score for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Today, I wanted to capture a similar vibe, but with a track that isn’t from the film.
I think I found the perfect track. It was also released in 2001, just like FOTR, and it’s by the German band Rammstein. The lyrics were written in response to accusations of fascism and Nazism against the band, but if you don’t speak fluent German, it’s easy to ignore them and just enjoy the beat. The music really matches the feeling of a mechanical, relentless army marching out of the pits after the hobbits.
