Conabus (Reblog)

Recommended music: Heilung – Krigsgaldr

It’s #FourHorsemenFriday, and since my action figures are still packed up, awaiting a new display, toys from the past will continue to come into play.

As much as I love Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s music, his classical compositions from the 1800s may not be the best fit for this skeletal Mythic Legions horse.

“Krigsgaldr” is the perfect soundtrack for Conabus because its rhythm really matches the feel of Necronominus’s pale steed. The song features heavy, primal frame drums and the clear sound of actual bone percussion. Listening to it is like hearing skeletal hooves hitting frozen ground, which fits Conabus’s story as a herald who wakes the dead to march with him.

The song’s atmosphere does more than set a mood, as Heilung uses real throat singing, harsh whispers, and old Germanic chants that feel more like a dark ritual than regular music. As the track grows from eerie spoken words into a powerful, trance-like war chant, you can just picture a dark fantasy featuring Conabus.
